October 2006 Issue

Dear Reader,

Twenty years ago, as I was renovating the backyard of my home in Canada, I was struck by the thought that even though I was earning a great salary in the corporate world, my career was taking over the rest of my life. It consumed my time and my mind.

One night while reading in bed, I came across the saying, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." I realized that although I was eating healthy food, caring about social issues and being a good person, I was not helping to solve the many global humanitarian issues that I truly cared about.

In an event of superb synchronicity, the holistic health center in my area was looking for support. This was just the sign I was looking for. I began volunteering, helping others and learning new skills. Eventually, I sold my company in exchange for a new life. Today, as a Founder and Director of Integrative Nutrition, I live my dream. Of course I faced hardships and made sacrifices along the way, but it was worth it to escape from the corporate system.

I believe the greatest untapped resource for social change in this country is the masses of intelligent, creative people, just like you, who know something different is possible but continue working "regular" jobs. You are a spiritual being in a material world, and the daily grind is not what you came here for. Of course you have to look after yourself and your family, but a bigger game is available to you.

It is my passionate hope that you will look at your one precious life and choose a new path. Have a dream and learn the skills to make it come true. Consider checking out our school. We may be the right place for you to start.
