Maria Jose Flaque Inspires Women Throughout Latin America

After spending years sick and overmedicated, Maria Jose Flaque knew that she had to make a lifestyle change.

She began to learn about holistic health, nutrition, and self development, but it wasn’t until she read Integrative Nutrition: Feed your Hunger for Health and Happiness that she realized she could use her personal experiences and passions to build a career.

Since graduating from the Health Coach Training Program in 2012, Maria has created a successful online health coaching business which allows her to work with clients throughout Latin America.

Her journey to wellness is so inspiring that she even won first place in the My IIN Transformation Video Challenge!

Read on to learn how IIN helped Maria discover a happy and healthy lifestyle.

What led you to explore the Health Coach Training Program?

I have always been very passionate about the holistic lifestyle and self development. I was taking different courses and workshops and reading and willing to learn more. In my quest to relieve my anxiety and fibromyalgia symptoms, I also visited a lot of holistic health practitioners and I began learning a bit about how food could relieve my symptoms. When I read the IIN book I knew that was what I needed. The health coaching program not only helped me fix my symptoms, but it also allowed me to be able to use everything I had learned in all of those different workshops to help other as well.

Which topics and modules were most beneficial for you?

Oh so many!  My favorite topics were always the nutrition ones. The teachers I was most influenced by were: Dr. Mark Hyman: I learned so much about inflammation and Omega 3 in his talk. Geneen Roth: She is such an inspiration! Everything she spoke about really touched my heart. Donna Gates: I deeply admire the work she does with autism and the gut/brain connection. Julia Cameron: I love the morning pages exercise and she is also such an inspiration.

What projects are you currently working on?

I currently practice as a Health Coach full time. I specialize in women who want to cleanse and detoxify their body. All of my programs are completely online so I focus strongly on all of the Latin American, Spanish speaking countries. I have clients from Honduras, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, and El Salvador. My goal is to reach as many people in Latin-American as possible.

What makes you and your practice or product unique?

My practice is unique because it is 100% online and I focus on Latin American countries only. This means that my clients can learn to eat healthy and detoxify, easily from home, no matter where they live.

What do you love most about your work?

I love that I have a flexible schedule that allows me to travel, the fact that it is 100% online, and that I can reach more people and make a big impact on people's lives. I love seeing the change in my clients, like losing weight or fixing digestive issues. It is really amazing how quickly the body responds to healthy food and regenerates.
