Job: Health Coach

Favorite snack food: Cacao and banana protein smoothie.  Avocado.

Favorite activity outside of work: Snuggling with my children and husband.

Health concerns I've cleared up: Fibromyalgia, depression, rosacea and hypothyroidism. I realize I need to be gentle with myself and trusting that I am supposed to be right here, right now

Nutrition education is important because: Food is love. What we put into our bodies guides our behaviors, decisions, and life choices.

What I love about Integrative Nutrition: As a former teacher, I wanted to teach something that I am extremely passionate about—nutrition. IIN allowed me to explore not only nutritional theories and diets, but encompassed all aspects of me.  I learned so much about myself. I love the school’s ongoing, everlasting support. IIN gave me the business training and all the materials I needed.  I was able to concentrate on my most important priority—my clients and their needs, rather worrying about where to start business-wise.

About My Practice

My specialty: Busy women in their 30's and 40's who have careers and children, who want to start taking care of themselves and get their “hot” back. Clients learn to listen to their bodies, as well as set effortless weight loss and fitness goals, like marathons or 5K runs.

What my clients love about my program: It isn't a quick fix; the step-by-step system intrigues them.

My favorite juicy question to ask my clients is: If you only had one week to live, how would you spend it?

What I love about what I do: That I can live with integrity.  IIN gave me a career that allows me to "walk the talk."  The creativity of my job and how I serve others is amazing.

How my life has changed: I am so free. I used to try every diet and think about counting calories all the time. I now enjoy food, making meals and sharing good food with others. I just listen to my body and do what feels good.

How I am making a difference in my community: I teach at Whole Foods, a community college and at various fitness and recreational centers. I am able to spread information throughout my community.

My greatest success so far: Leaving the stability and financial security of my teaching job to follow my passion and building a successful practice in less than a year.

In the future, I see myself: Owning my "detox market”— a juice bar/vegan café— plus writing a cookbook.

The message I want to get out: Food is love. We can use food to change the world.

My favorite inspirational quote: "I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship." - Louisa May Alcott
