The Emotional Eating Course is for you if...

The Emotional Eating Course is for you if
- You’re a Health Coach looking to earn a certificate in a niche area of health.
- You've developed a pattern of dealing with your emotions by reaching into the fridge or pantry even when you're not hungry, triggering feelings of shame and guilt.
- You struggle with body image and want to live in a body you love.
- You want to empower your clients in developing enjoyable and sustainable habits around food that support overall health and well being.
At one point in our lives, many of us have found ourselves stuck in a cycle of unhealthy eating patterns. From daily stressors and family traditions to cultural norms, fad diets, and perceived body ideals, we may have used or currently use food in a variety of ways including:

What You'll Learn
What is Emotional Eating?
Get clear on the signs of emotional eating, including using food to self-soothe or fill a void, for comfort, as a coping mechanism, or using it to feel some sense of control. We’ll also dive into the key differences between emotional eating and eating disorders, so you have a clear understanding of why it's important when addressing your client's concerns, and how it relates to your scope of practice as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.
Root Causes and Triggers of Emotional Eating
Understanding why you use food in response to your emotions is often the hardest part on your journey towards better health. From stress and lack of sleep to perceived body “ideals” and our diet culture, we’ll break down why fad diets don’t work and deconstruct common biases and norms that fuel unhealthy habits. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of how you view, perceive, and feel about food and ultimately yourself – especially in connection to your weight.
Cravings, Sugar, and Listening to Your Body
We’re biologically hardwired to receive pleasure from sweet foods, and we associate cakes and treats with celebration and fun. This mind-set also leads to cravings, which are signs of emotional or psychological hunger. This behavior can stem from dehydration, boredom, social situations, hormones, and more. We’ll ask you to dig deep, connecting your current eating habits with emotions, while shifting your mind-set away from behavior that can cause weight gain, high blood sugar, and more serious health conditions.
Nourishment Beyond Food
Sometimes we get sidetracked by thinking food is the only way to truly feel nourished. While this course focuses on helping you implement mindful eating strategies, there are many things found off your plate that can nourish and fulfill you more than just food alone. We’ll encourage you to create a more vibrant life through a variety of self-healing tools, including nurturing relationships, physical activity, self-care, and more. A well-rounded you is a more balanced you!
Integrating Emotional Eating into Your Practice
You’ve dug into your own history with food, and now you’re ready to help others do the same. We’ll teach you how to take the concept of bio-individuality one step further in your coaching sessions, giving you the tools you need to dig into why your clients use food in response to their emotions. You’ll confidently navigate this complex topic and lead clients on a journey of self-empowerment and healing.
