Before enrolling at IIN, I was working as a cost engineer for a global energy company. I'd recently made the decision to follow a vegan lifestyle, so to keep myself accountable, and to share all the amazing concoctions (and spectacular fails) I was making in the kitchen, I started my first blog.
By the time IIN caught my attention in late 2012, my blog had grown a small readership and one year later, I made the decision to enroll. I learned more than I could have ever imagined and to my surprise, I fell in love with the idea of being a Health Coach. It was scary leaving the security of a high paid career, and in running my own business, I’ve worked harder than ever before. But it’s also been the most humbling and fulfilling thing I've ever done.
Thanks to IIN, I'm now a best-selling author and my sobriety memoir, A Happier Hour, has touched the lives of thousands of women. I spend my days speaking at events, coaching my beautiful clients and guiding my life-changing coaching program, Sexy Sobriety. The Sunday Times Magazine named me ‘One of Perth’s leading Healthpreneurs’! I’m honored to have shared my love for health and happiness with more than 100 online, video, audio and print publications.
IIN definitely changed the course of my life. Before attending the program, I worked for a handbag company in NYC and probably would have stayed the course in that industry. IIN gave me the confidence and belief that I was in control of my life and could go after my dreams. There is no doubt that I would not have started Purely Elizabeth, had I not had my experience at IIN.
I am now the founder and CEO of Purely Elizabeth, an all-natural and organic food company. I started the company in October 2009. We focus on using the most innovative, nutrient-dense ingredients on the market like chia, quinoa, amaranth, kaniwa, coconut sugar and coconut oil, while making the products taste absolutely delicious. We recently released the first Probiotic Granola on the market and a Grain-Free Granola! The past seven years since starting Purely Elizabeth has truly been life changing on so many levels.
I love that the industry we are in truly has an effect on people’s lives. It’s pretty rewarding to hear feedback that our products have helped customers live a healthier lifestyle. It’s also amazing to be surrounded by such like-minded individuals. The industry is filled with passionate people who are happy in what they are doing.
Before IIN, I was a Personal Trainer and managed my own gym. I became interested in the program because I wanted to start my own nutrition business, to add value to my PT Clients. After enrolling, I took the plunge and started my online business, Vitality Nutrition.
Since IIN, I was asked to co-author a health and fitness book with Stay Strong Mummy, Kimberley Welman, which was released in January 2017. I truly believe I wouldn’t have had the courage to become a published author if it was not for IIN. I found all of the information in the program to not only be an integral part of my development as a Health Coach, but also as an author, mother and wife!
Bio-individuality stood out the most, coming from a traditional PT background. It sounds cliché, but knowing that I am helping people be happier and healthier is my passion! My husband and I (and our kids) live, eat and breathe it. It is who we are and how we live everyday.
Unlike a lot of people who sign up for IIN, I had never heard of the school before I joined, but I was hungry to try new things and I had always had an interest in health. At the time I was working for a global software company and my financial success outweighed my personal fulfillment. I became aware that success couldn't be created in the soul by money alone.
As soon as I began the IIN course everything started 'clicking' into place for me. The supportive and multi-dimensional overview of what we were learning, such as multiple dietary theories and the holistic nature of health was leading me back to what I had been raised to know was the truth.
I began blogging at The Whole Daily about my journey while still studying at IIN. I completed my study with IIN while on maternity leave and by the time that ended I had created a profitable online health business that allowed me the freedom to choose to stay home and work on what I had found I was most passionate about, supporting people to health.
IIN was the beginning of it all really. I know life is sliding doors, but without IIN I would probably be desk bound in a city high-rise doing work that I wasn't passionate about and ferrying my kids to and from daycare right now. IIN was the pivot point to my whole life changing for the better.
Being a woman in Venezuela, the most beauty-obsessed country in the world is challenging. The pressure to conform to an impossible standard of beauty was, and is, incredible. I tried every diet on the planet, every pill on the market, and every trick in the books. I was on the verge of an eating disorder and very confused about my emotional state and body image.
It was not until I stopped obsessing over my weight and focused on my wellbeing that I understood what worked for me. After working in a clinical environment studying patient’s actions and reactions, I realized that people's bodies, metabolism and habits are different in many ways. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition taught me that the one-size-fits all dietary approach simply doesn’t work. Knowing this inspired me to create "YourDietMethod".
My mission is to assist and teach people proper nutrition suited for their lives so they never need to diet again. I want girls to be comfortable with themselves, no matter what their environment is. I want women to feel sexy, no matter what their body type is. I want to inspire people to become the healthiest version of themselves.
I learned at a young age that the happiest, most successful people I encountered, were also the healthiest and most open to improving themselves. This naturally led me to explore personal and professional development books, tapes and programs. I then became extremely passionate about health and wellness. So I set out to learn as much as possible about how to experience extraordinary health. I received my Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Florida Atlantic University and continued my education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition along with intensive self-study. I’ve read literally hundreds of books covering health, wellness, mindfulness, exercise and nutrition and feel blessed to be able to share my knowledge with the world. I get to inspire and instruct others on how to improve their lives through making healthier choices. I’m living my passion while making the world a healthier, better place.
I graduated from IIN in 2005 and incorporated health coaching into my private NYC-based fitness and martial arts training practice. In 2009, I took my 3rd degree black belt and nutrition expertise to Los Angeles where I created the Stilettos and Self Defense program and DVDs to empower women everywhere to learn how to kick butt.
My career is forever developing as I continue to follow my dreams. I’ve consulted for major fitness brands, designed corporate wellness programs, and even traveled around Europe, China, Africa and the U.S. with a VIP client as his traveling health coach. My expertise has been featured on The Today Show, E!, The Doctors, Rachael Ray and many more. I love to blog and have recently co-authored my first book, Hear Me Roar: How to Defend Your Mind, Body and Heart Against People Who Suck.
My current mission is to empower women to feel strong, safe, and confident from the streets to the boardroom through speaking at corporate events, conferences, and colleges.
Prior to enrolling at Integrative Nutrition, I worked on the Wall Street trading floor at Morgan Stanley. As a serious athlete, I always scoffed at yoga’s hippie ineffectiveness, but initially tried it as a way to diversify my 60 miles of running a week. I quickly got addicted, and after few years of daily practice and study, I began teaching friends yoga and meditation for free.
Soon, colleagues and friends began asking for nutritional help. Then it hit me - there was not a lens for wellness that was effective and realistic, one that understood working hard and playing hard, as well as the extreme stress of office life and modern living. I decided to quit my job to start I.AM.YOU., the first ever 360 degree lens for wellness based on yoga, nourishment, mindset, and music and wrote a Best Selling book with Penguin Randomhouse, RETOX. I have since exited the business, and I am now consulting wellness businesses and entrepreneurs full time.
We all have different bodies that change throughout the phases of life. Integrative Nutrition allowed me the freedom to learn about various nutritional theories and apply them as I saw fit for my clients and myself. Integrative Nutrition gave me the confidence to stand by the decision my body was telling me to make. IIN is about the freedom of doing what works for you.
After recovering from my own 15-year battle with full-blown bulimia, I decided I had to do something for people who were still stuck in this dark place. This is how I became a holistic health coach with Integrative Nutrition. Understanding the frustration and desperation that go with endless psychotherapy and medication, I wanted to offer a new and comprehensive approach that worked, looking at the present and future of my patients instead of their past.
Every day I am happy to witness their results, and I am proud to say that my approach works! I now work via 1:1 coaching and have built my own online program, featuring well-known innovative guest teachers such as Kathryn Hansen. I've also recently created a free 2-week email coaching series, in which I share the basic principles we need in order to transform our relationship with food.
After I joined IIN at 16 years old (the youngest person to join at the time!), I started my first yoga Facebook page called SkinnybyTara. After a while I took what I learned at IIN and from my education with a BS in Food and Nutrition to start a practice as the recipe developer, yoga instructor, and lifestyle blogger that I am now! My story is still being written and every day I feel blessed to wake up and live this life.
I used to feel like food was the enemy. It always made me feel guilty, stressed (counting every calorie), bloated or tired. I knew my relationship with food needed an overhaul, so I went to Integrative Nutrition and paired up with my bff to create a food system that would help both of us finally feel like the best version of ourselves again.
Eating the Sakara way helped me realize that food is medicine. It's there to nourish us so that we can glow from the inside out. We decided to turn our mess into our mission and share our life-changing food with the world! We deliver everything totally ready-to-eat right to your door, so that there is zero stress involved in eating healthy. Now we also offer some of our amazing superfood salad dressings, snacks and Beauty Water on our site as well!
Five years ago, I left a thriving life and career in New York City to explore the world. I sold all my things, bought a one-way ticket to India and traveled. I studied with masters of yoga, meditation, Buddhism, movement therapy and more. I realized I wanted to immerse myself in this community.
A year later I moved to Denver with no community and no way to meet people. I saw an opportunity and started an event company called YogaDates (“Dating With A Twist”). Word spread quickly and events sold out regularly. Most importantly, people finally had a place to meet mindful singles in a fun, community-driven and inspiring environment.
People want connection with those who share their values and support their lifestyle. What I consistently heard from YogaDates’ customers was how difficult it was to find these connections. So many of them were thankful for the service that we provided. It became clear to me that the mission behind YogaDates was part of a larger movement towards mindfulness and mindful living—and single people who live healthy, conscious lifestyles struggle to find and interact with other like-minded singles. This was the seed from which my dating site MeetMindful was born.
