Fat is Not the Villain: Nina Planck on Real Food [Video]
Sauerkraut. Cheese. Sourdough bread. What do these foods have in common, beyond pairing well on a savory cheese platter?
They’re all examples of what Integrative Nutrition visiting teacher Nina Planck calls “real food” – foods that humans have been eating for thousands of years and that have been raised and processed according to traditional methods.
Many of these “real foods” are also high in fat. We’ve been taught for years to fear fat, but in the video below, Planck shares how a low-fat vegan diet actually made her sick, why saturated fats have been unfairly demonized, and which foods truly are the villain. Watch to learn more!
What about you? Do you agree with Planck’s perspective on “real food”? Or do you make an effort to avoid animal products and saturated fats? Let us know why or why not in the comments section below!
