Q: What inspired you to enroll at IIN?

A: In 2017, I was close to 300 pounds, suffered from depression, and was suicidal. I realized that I didn’t want to be 50 years old and on my deathbed.

So I went on a food journey, to learn how to eat. I learned how to “crowd out” the bad foods, bring in the good foods, and drink more water. I was able to lose half my size just by making those positive food choices!

My good friend and neighbor Hannah had given me the founder of IIN, Joshua Rosenthal’s book, Integrative Nutrition. It all made sense to me to pursue a path that I was destined to follow. I wanted to share my knowledge of health and well-being and make a change in the world, one person at a time. When I turned 51, I wanted to help others achieve what I was able to achieve.

Q: How are you using your Health Coach Training Program education?

A: To break free from the corporate world and start my own business and be an advocate for health and nutrition. IIN helped me realize my purpose and that I wanted to share all my knowledge with those around me, especially men, creating safe spaces to guide them on their unique paths.

Q: How did your understanding of food and nutrition expand upon taking the program?

A: It helped bring in a broader idea of what health and nutrition were really about. I’d already embarked on my own food journey, finding the foods that worked best for me, and my IIN education truly solidified all the choices I was making and continued to help me embrace bio-individuality when it came to how I eat.

Q: How do you nourish yourself beyond your plate with primary foods?

A: I love to meditate in the morning; journal at night; ground myself with nature (I hug and touch trees a lot) and enjoy being in the moment, in the now and loving who I am.

Q: Health is not a destination; it's an evolution and a journey. How does this resonate with you?

A: Life itself is a journey, and our health is very important. It starts with the mindset and determination to make the journey, to pursue a healthy lifestyle. From there, everything else will follow. Once you get that mindset clicked in, you can achieve what you desire!

Q: How are you living a life you love? How did the program help you achieve this?

A: Self-love. If you can’t love who you are and what you’ve accomplished and achieved, you can’t move forward to love family, friends, partners, or anyone else who comes into your life.

Q: If you could tell your pre-IIN self one thing, what would it be?

A: Make the jump and be the change. Be part of the ripple effect and not only do it for yourself but change as many others as you can along the way.

Q: What's one thing you can't run your business without?

A: My IIN community. I became friends with classmates who motivate and inspire me to keep going.

Q: We’re calling our IIN graduates and community members Well BeIINgs. How do you embody well-being?

A: Mindset, heart-set and gut-set. Going back to loving yourself first. You’re capable of opening many doors and paths that will bring you joy.
