Do you ever notice that the happiest, most successful people you encounter are usually the healthiest people, too? Furthermore, they’re almost always open to learning more and improving themselves at every chance they get.
Personal trainer and Health Coach Devin Burke learned this at a young age, and after hearing about a life-changing chance for self-study and personal development through IIN, immediately knew it was the course for him. Since graduating, he’s created a thriving career in Boca Raton, Florida, where he helps people make healthier choices and improve their lives through in-person and group coaching.
Read on to hear how this student of life became a Health Coach, and why he thinks we can change the world together!
What were you doing prior to enrolling at Integrative Nutrition?
Prior to enrolling at IIN, I was backpacking through Europe for two and half months just before getting ready to enter a doctoral of physical therapy program. I realized while traveling and exploring myself that God had a different plan for me to serve the world.
What led you to explore the Health Coach Training Program?
A seasonal client I was personal training at the time, came back from New Jersey and looked absolutely amazing. When I asked her what changed, she told me she was working with a Health Coach. At the time, I’d never heard of a Health Coach. It just so happened that her Health Coach was traveling to speak at a women's empowerment seminar the following week in Delray Beach. We met, and she told me all about health coaching and the IIN program. I knew after that conversation, that the IIN program was the next step I needed to best serve the world.
How did your life change after enrolling?
Going through the course opened my eyes and gave me a platform to fulfill my dreams. While learning from all the amazing teachers, I was inspired and empowered to better my own health and get clarity on how I could best serve others on their own health journey.
Which topics and modules were most beneficial for you?
I really connected with the following teachers: Joshua Rosenthal, Deepak Chopra, John Douillard, Andrew Weil, David Wolfe and Gabby Bernstein!
What are you up to now?
I currently have a private health coaching practice and teach group wellness classes for a medically run wellness program. My clientele is mostly baby boomers looking to live, look and feel their best.
This year I published my first book, Healthy Eating in the 21st Century and filmed a video information product based of the book, which I'll be releasing this month.
My focus this year will be sharing my message to groups both online and in person and creating live health-based seminars and retreats.
What makes you unique?
What makes me unique is my ability to distill information into easy-to-follow, understandable content that gets people to take action and get results. I keep it simple and fun for my clients so that they feel inspired to take action.
How do you help your clients be successful?
I help my clients be successful by empowering them to help themselves. I give them support, guidance, motivation and the tools they need to make successful lifestyle changes.
A client I recently started working with was suffering from very bad arthritis pain at the age of 40. She was able to reduce her pain from a 9 to a 2 on a scale of 10, in just three weeks after changing her lifestyle and eating habits with my guidance. A few weeks after that, she was able to get off almost all her medications, had more energy and lost 15 pounds.
What do you love about your work?
I love seeing people transform their health and knowing I played a part in the process. I love the flexibility and diversity that comes with being a health coach, as well as being able to express my creativity in my work.
Is there a need for health coaches where you live?
There is a need for Health Coaches everywhere right now. I truly believe that Health Coaches will lead the world to become a healthier, happier place.
