When you walk into the grocery store, chances are you’re bombarded with marketing tactics at every turn boasting the health benefits of this cereal or that protein bar.
But how do you know which products are actually best for you? After all, many “whole grain” cereals are loaded with refined sugar, and while some gummy bears may be made with “real fruit juice” they still aren’t exactly a health food.
Integrative Nutrition visiting teacher Dr. David Katz is hoping to cut through the confusion with an innovative new labeling system called NuVal. With an incredibly clear scoring system from 1-100, consumers are immediately able to see how products stack up against each other, and can quickly “trade up” to a healthier choice.

Because there are two important things *in season* right now: Football and root veggies. Full recipe below:
- 3 large sweet potatoes, cut into fry shapes
- 1tbsp olive oil
- To taste: salt, pepper, dried basil, crushed red pepper flakes 1/4-1/3c grated parm
- Optional: Spicy mayo - mix mayo with hot sauce. DELISH!
if your air fryer requires preheating, heat to 400f. Cut sweet potato into fry shapes. Toss with a little olive oil then season with spices. Put 1/2 batch of fries into air fryer and cook for 8 minutes, toss, then again for 6 minutes. Repeat one more time until crispy. Then repeat again with other 1/2 batch. When all done, toss in bowl with parmesan and enjoy.
