Sakara Life Makes NYC Healthier, One Delivery at a Time

The “aha” moment: many of our students make a decision to enroll based on it, while others have it once they begin the program. 2011 graduate Danielle DuBoise had her moment while lying on a yoga mat.

Inspired by the thought of helping others reap the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, she found Integrative Nutrition and enrolled in the Health Coach Training Program. Since graduating she has chased her aspiration to help others get healthy, and co-founded Sakara Life, a New York City-based food delivery company.

The options for ordering food in NYC are endless – you can get pretty much any type of baked, boiled or fried food you desire, anytime. But staying healthy? That’s a different story. Danielle and her business partner deliver organic, locally sourced meals straight to their customer’s doorstep! Read on to learn about Danielle’s business venture and how she got her start.

What were you doing prior to enrolling at Integrative Nutrition?

I was finishing my degree in Chemistry and Physical Anthropology at Hunter College. I studied acting, and began a period of self-exploration in order to find my true mission and goal in life.

What led you to explore the Health Coach Training Program?

I was laying in Shavasana at the Jivamukti Yoga Studio and had this vision. I knew I wanted to help people feel what I was feeling in that very moment by teaching them how to eat the right things, by loving themselves, and not by starvation or restriction. I found IIN after an online search and was immediately attracted to the message. I knew I had found the right place.

How did your life change after enrolling?

I finally felt like I was on track, doing something, and creating something. It was a great feeling and motivated me to start my own company.

Which topics and modules were most beneficial for you? danielle in kitchen

I loved the talks on things such as raw dairy because it was so in opposition with everything one grows up learning here in America. I grew up in the town of Sedona, Arizona, which has always been on the forefront of health and spiritual wellbeing. I knew fortified, non-organic milk wasn't good for me, but was dumbfounded when I learned how many people drink it on a daily basis. This type of lecture was comforting and assuring, knowing I had a team of people that believed in all the things I believed in.

What are you up to these days?

I started an organic meal delivery company in New York City called Sakara Life. We source from local, organic farms, and deliver our programs straight to people's homes or offices. It's been a huge success and I know we will continue to grow thanks to institutions like IIN that enforce the importance of whole, organic nutrition.

What makes you and your company unique?

We make our food with love. We source from local, organic farms. We use tree-free, corn-free and 100% compostable packaging. We love our food. We love our clients. We love our Earth.

How has the response been? How do you help Sakara Life customers be successful?

We've had tons of success stories; people have written us love letters confessing how much our healthy food has changed their lives! From weight loss to healing disease to clarity, our food helps people become their best selves.

What do you love about your work?

I get to help people feel their best!
