Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mark Hyman! Dr. Hyman’s holistic approach to medicine, combined with his nurturing attitude, and ability to distill complex ideas into easy to understand concepts makes him a student favorite year after year.
Mark Hyman, MD is a leader in the field of Functional Medicine. He is the Director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, Founder and Medical Director of the UltraWellness Center, and the author of nine New York Times best-selling books.
“It’s an extraordinary time in medicine, because those people who have provided health in the past, mainly doctors, are not going to be the people who create health in the future. Those are going to be health coaches.” – Mark Hyman, MD
What Does He Teach?
Dr. Hyman’s expertise ranges far and wide as a functional medicine expert. In our program, he shares the connection between biologically addictive foods and the global obesity epidemic – 70% of Americans (and 40% of children) are considered overweight. Mark Hyman answers the question of whether obesity is driven by calories or the composition of the food on peoples’ plates. Ruling out psychology, Mark Hyman explains how biology and the addictive properties of food play a bigger part than earlier research may have shown.
What Do Our Students Say?
“I especially remember seeing Dr. Mark Hyman speak on functional medicine. He completely had my attention (well, yes, he is very handsome) but his approach to healing the body through food makes so much sense! I was always impressed with the caliber of speakers.” – Jennifer Cassetta
“Dr. Hyman is my guru and I discovered functional medicine that gave me faith in doctors again I loved all the modules about health and nutrition, all of them!! They were like honey for me, sweet and delicious. I couldn't get enough!” – Safia Morsly-Fikai
“Dr. Mark Hyman is amazing; his work is incredible and he's such a genuine, sincere person. He taught me so much about what wellness really means! He's incredible.” – Amie Valpone
“Mark Hyman had a huge impact on me because he promotes a whole foods based way of eating while incorporating traditional healing modalities into his practice like: herbalism, meditation and breath work. As an herbalist, having the backing from an MD is huge because he helps bring awareness to the masses that other healing modalities are safe, necessary and important.” - Gillian Radar
