What were you doing prior to enrolling at Integrative Nutrition?

I am an asthma survivor, having healed myself from it in 2019 using holistic approaches to wellness, and I also coached a number of women in Boston on the benefits of using food as medicine to manage and heal themselves from asthma. I also alleviated my 5-year-old daughter’s autism symptoms using similar approaches. I became passionate about this topic after I had walked my self-healing journey and discovered that the foods I was putting on my plate daily were responsible for my allergies. I made the commitment to myself to reverse my allergies and those of my now 7-year-old daughter and have beaten both challenges ever since.

I cofounded the first African American online coaching program that teaches women how to create plant-based recipes using African-sourced ingredients. I’ve partnered with a Texas-based educational association to teach young girls in school (especially in Benin, West Africa) about the importance of holistic nutrition and the importance of incorporating more plant-based foods in their diet. I was also a raw food, plant-based chef and did not know how to monetize this passion until I came to IIN.

How did your life change after enrolling?

I learned so much more than I knew already. Having different perspectives of a variety of health professionals was really helpful. Through IIN, I was able to get more confidence to coach women with asthma and allergies (my target market). I was also able to coach women who have kids with autism.

With this newfound confidence from IIN, I will be teaching in September 2022 in front of a number of women on the topic of using food as medicine as well as lifestyle changes to prevent chronic illness. The message I want to share is this: We all have an inner ability to heal ourselves.
